Megumi Hayashibara made her anime debut in 1986 in "Maison Ikkoku".
She has gone on to contribute her vocal talent to characters in countless popular anime titles.
At present, her major works and character roles include Rei Ayanami in "Neon Genesis Evangelion", Musashi in "Pokemon", Ai Haibara in "Case Closed: Detective Conan", and Komusubi Man in the "Anpanman" series, among others.
Hayashibara is also active as a singer. Since releasing her first single in 1991, she has released 40 singles and 13 original albums, along with best albums and other work under her full name.
With numerous musical titles having charted in the Top 10 of the Oricon Music Charts, Hayashibara can be considered a key figure in establishing the existence of the "Seiyuu (voice actor/ actress) artist" in the public consciousness at a time when such artists were a rarity.
